Project Overview - Shoe Soles
In freshman year after completing months of research, we delved into our project of making new shoe soles. Our goal was to make a shoe sole specifically designed for the purpose of running. We tried to make a shoe sole that bounced off the ground, was light, and was durable. We designed, molded, and cast polyurethane shoe soles for cross-country track athletes. After many attempts and many failures, we ran out of time due to the school years end. Although we did not complete our task, we did learn from our mistakes and it made our next project, speakers, easier to complete.

Project Overview - Speakers
At the beginning of this project, we dissected earphones to see the different components of a speaker. Once we understood the basic parts, we made homemade speakers ourselves, using paper plates, magnet wire, neodymium magnets, sandpaper, and scrap paper. It was a great way to practice reverse engineering in order to see how a certain technology works. That way, we could make the same technology using different materials, but with the same, main concepts.
